For Peep’ Sake

From watching a video tutorial by Jennifer McGuire on pull tab cards, a design came to mind. I wanted to use that same concept but I wanted an egg cracking to reveal a small chick inside.

I used Waffle Flower’s Pull Tabs die to create my “masterpiece.” I took a standard A2 card, cut it down to 5.25″ by 4″ so that I could have a border when mounting it on my base card.

First, I made a grassy area for the egg to stand on with Distress Oxide Peeled Paint. I stamped grass detail with Distress Oxide Bundled Sage using Stampin’ Up Love & Sympathy. I turned the flower stamp upside down to create my grass detail. For the sky, I applied Distress Ink Tumbled Glass with Picket Fence Blending Brushes and My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil.

Peep a BOO!

For the egg, I die cut a white egg shape (2″ x 2-7/8″) using Sizzix Framelits – Egg. I cut jagged lines to give the appearance that the egg was cracked. To make the pull tab, I watched a tutorial from Waffle Flower, see below:

However I must say that this pull tab is poorly designed. If you find a better way to do the pull tab, then my all means, have at it.

Have a Happy Easter

For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment from Stampin’ Up For Peeps’ Sake stamp set. Such a cute stamp set that I purchase on eBay. I do not like the exorbitant prices of tax and shipping that Stampin’ Up charges for their products. You ask . . . how did you do the chick? I used Stampin’ Up owl punch. The wings and feet were done with My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather die set. FYI, I did use the chick punch art design so I must give credit to http://brandyscards.com/stampin-up-punch-art-chick-happy-easter/

Thank you for visiting my blog . . . I’m a beginner at making cards but I hope enjoyed my cute little chickadee and the egg card. Here is the final product.
